Bayer Worldwide
Bayer - at Home Throughout the World
Asia-Pacific: Important future market
Asia-Pacific, with its enormous growth potential, is one of Bayer's most important future markets.
In 2006 Bayer's approximately 17,300 employees in the region generated sales of EUR 4.6
billion - about 16 percent of the Group total. The company's goal is to increase the share of
Asia-Pacific sales substantially over the medium term.
Europe: "home market" for Bayer
In 2005 Bayer posted sales of around EUR 11.9 billion on the European market - more than 43 percent
of the Group total. A comprehensive distribution network along with major production facilities in
Germany, Belgium, France, the U.K., Italy and Spain give Bayer a strong presence in this important
economic region, which has a population of 460 million people in the 25 E.U. countries alone.
North America: Investigation of new markets from "coast to coast"
In North America (United States and Canada) Bayer is represented by separate operating
subsidiaries: Bayer Corporation, in the United States headquartered in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania,
and Bayer Inc., in Canada headquartered in Toronto, Ontario. In 2005, the Bayer Group in North
America achieved total sales from continuing operations of EUR 7.3 billion.
Latin America: Si es Bayer, es bueno: a long tradition
Bayer has had a presence in Latin America for more than 110 years. The company has affiliates in
almost every country in the region and enjoys a high level of awareness among consumers. The Bayer
Group in Latin America employs about 14,000 people and achieved sales of EUR 2.4 billion in 2005.
Africa & Middle East: From Cape Town to Karachi
All Bayer's businesses are represented throughout Africa. Crop protection is a major focus of
activity and formulation plants are located in Kenya and South Africa. South Africa holds a key
position in Bayer's Africa strategy with almost 56 percent of the continent's sales being achieved
there.
